Empowering Resilience in Fort Collins, CO with Top Youth Speaker Eddie Cortés
Some school visits just hit different, and Werner Elementary in Fort Collins, CO was one of them. The energy, the curiosity, the excitement—it was all there.
Why Resilience Matters
At Werner Elementary, I had the chance to remind students that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back—it’s about bouncing forward, stronger than before.
During my I’m Possible school assembly program, we talked about how life is full of challenges, setbacks, and failures, but those moments don’t define us—how we respond to them does.
I shared with them that resilient students don’t just survive hard things—they thrive through them. They:
- Keep trying, even when something feels hard.
- Learn from failure instead of letting it stop them.
- Understand that they are worthy of their dreams, no matter what anyone else says.
One of the biggest lessons I wanted them to take away was this: “Your potential is greater than anyone’s opinion of you.” And that includes the opinion you sometimes have of yourself when self-doubt creeps in.
