Chasing Dreams: A Day of Resilience at Colinas Del Norte Elementary with Motivational Youth Speaker Eddie Cortes

Hey there, friends! What an inspiring day I had on September 26th when I was invited to be a guest speaker at Colinas Del Norte Elementary in Rio Rancho, NM. The theme of the day was all about building the resilience needed to chase im.possible dreams. Let me take you through the memorable moments and the vital teaching point I emphasized.

Resilience: The Foundation of Dream Chasing

Resilience, I believe, is the secret sauce that empowers us to pursue our dreams relentlessly. I stressed the importance of never giving up, even when life throws obstacles our way or when we start doubting our worthiness. Dreams may seem impossible, but they only truly are when we give up.

My Personal Journey: From Dream to Doubt

To drive this point home, I shared a personal story of great disappointment. My dream was to play major league baseball, a dream I was passionate about. However, I wasn’t the best baseball player out there, and my cousin’s words shattered my confidence. He told me I wasn’t good enough or worthy of my dream. That day, I decided to give up on baseball and stopped pursuing my dream altogether.

The Power of Persistence

I wanted the students to understand that giving up is what truly makes chasing dreams impossible. Regardless of their talents or limitations, they possess immense potential. What they can become far surpasses anything they believe they cannot achieve. It was powerful teaching moment.

While the message resonated with the students, one particular moment touched my heart deeply, and it occurred before the school assembly even began.

Christopher: A Moment of Connection

A teacher approached me and pointed out Christopher, a student who had recently lost his mother and could use some encouragement. I saw this as an opportunity to make a difference. When the presentation started, I invited Christopher to join me in a baseball skit as I shared my childhood dream. His eyes lit up with excitement, and a beaming smile crossed his face.

After our skit, I gave Christopher a copy of my book. At the end of the school assembly, he approached me, his eyes shining with gratitude, and asked for my autograph. It was a touching moment that reminded me of the impact we can have on students that go beyond words, speeches, or presentations.

Colinas Del Norte Elementary: A Place of Inspiration

Speaking at Colinas Del Norte Elementary was an incredible experience. The school exuded positivity and was filled with electric energy from the students. The educators were not only dedicated but also genuinely compassionate. It was clear that they cared deeply about the students’ well-being and growth.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Principal Julie and Farrah for extending the invitation to me. Their leadership is making a significant difference in the lives of the students.

In Conclusion: Resilience Fuels Dreams

As I reflect on this day, one teaching point stands out: resilience is the key to chasing dreams. It’s the unwavering belief that, no matter the obstacles, we can overcome them. Giving up is what makes dreams truly impossible. Every student at Colinas Del Norte Elementary possesses the potential to achieve their dreams, no matter their circumstances or doubts.

I’m continually inspired by the impact a motivational youth speaker can have on young minds. Colinas Del Norte Elementary is a shining example of a place where dreams are encouraged and nurtured, and I’m excited to see the incredible heights these young dreamers will reach.

Stay tuned for more adventures as I continue to inspire and be inspired by remarkable students. Until next time, friends!
